Faulkner off to races

Katie Faulkner of Homer took first in the 15-and-under age group and was 12th overall in the Eagle River Triathlon held June 8. With a time of 1 hour, 14 minutes, 55 seconds, the 14-year-old Faulkner placed third in the under-19 age class and qualified for the National Triathlon Championships in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho later this year.

Ida Martin (1:21:51) was 35th overall and eighth in the 20-24 class.

Andrew Faulkner (1:30:18) took third in the boys under-15.

Solstice golf teed up

The Kachemak Bay Lynx golf course is slated to host the Solstice Charity Golf Tournament on Friday evening.

The event begins with a barbecue and signup at 6:30 p.m., followed by a closest-to-the-pin contest at 7 p.m. A best-ball scramble, with teams of four, kicks off at 7:30.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Proceeds go to the charity of the winner's choosing. Call 235-8640 for more information.

Regatta beckons yachters

The Homer Yacht Club will hold its annual two-day Land's End Regatta beginning on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. off the end of the Spit

On Friday, there will be a 6 p.m. registration and reception at the Land's End Resort with discussions on sailing safety and sail trim. Call 235-8400 for details.
