Six-year-old Tegan Humphrey gave up her spot as lead lady angler this week. Tegan's 138-pound halibut, caught June 14 aboard Bear Force I with Capt. Rob Hyslip of Big Bear Halibut Charters, put her at the front of that race until S. June Schatz of Fort Rice, N.D., caught a 158.6-pound halibut June 16 aboard the Restless with Capt. Doug Judge of Alaska Adventure Fishing Charters.
For the month of June, the standings are:
* First place: 235-pound halibut caught by Moore;
* Second place: 198.2-pound halibut caught by Joe Richards of Leominster, Mass., June 14 aboard the Bear Force II with Capt. Brandon Hyslip of Big Bear Halibut Charters;
* Third place: 164.6-pound halibut caught by Frank Weavil of Chattaroy, Wash., June 16 aboard the Wild Thing with Capt. Mike Huff of Captain Mike's Charters;
* Fourth place: 159-pound halibut caught by Rob Lyons of Anchorage June 2 aboard the Falcon with Capt. Tony Arsenault of Falcon Charters.
One new tagged fish was caught last week by Rahn Redman of Shelton, Wash. That brings the total to three for the month of June:
* Ana Reid of Homer, caught June 1 on Bob's Trophy Charters with Capt. Brad Gibbs aboard the Tuff Stuff, tag sponsored by Adventure Alaska Car Rental, worth $500;
* Brenda Timmer of Fairbanks, caught June 6 on Ocean Hunter Charters with Capt. Keith Kalke aboard the Ocean Hunter, tag sponsored by Alyeska Tire, worth $1,000;
* Rahn Redman of Shelton, Wash., caught June 16 on a private boat with Captain Reid Meyers, tag sponsored by Captain Greg's Charters, worth $1,000.
A total of 13 fish have been released.
In addition to reminding fishermen to get their derby tickets before going fishing, Derby Coordinator Paula Frisinger also wanted to point out that Homer has a two-halibut limit per day per person, unlike other areas in the state where only one halibut per day per person is legal.
