The Cooperative Extension Service offers free testing of pressure-canner dial gauges from 12:30-3:30 p.m. at the Homer United Methodist Church, East End Road. Call (800) 478-5824.

Town Square Working Group meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Kachemak Emergency Service Area Board meets at 7 p.m. in the borough office at 206 E. Pioneer Ave.

Vessels of Hope presents The Thursday Dialogues from 7-9 p.m. at the Resource Center, 182 E. Pioneer Ave. Alice Foster, a Red Cross worker, presents "Impressions from Ground Zero," about her experiences working in New York City following the Sept. 11 attacks. Call 235-6642.

Homer Independent Baptist Church holds an old-fashioned tent revival with services at 7 p.m. nightly through July 7 at the old Bay View Baptist Church on the Sterling Highway. Sunday services are at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Evangelist David Sommerdorf and family preach and sing. Call Pastor Norris Ward at 235-9750.

Friday, June 28

A slide show on the women of Afghanistan is from 7-9 p.m. at City Hall.

Saturday, June 29

Wynn Nature Center presents "Wilderness Survival," a family program on survival skills, orienteering and knot tying, 10 a.m.-noon at the Mile 1.5 East Skyline Drive. Donations accepted. Call 235-6667.

Vessels of Hope holds an evening of Indian food, sitar and tabla music and a silent auction at 7 p.m. at the Elks Club. The fund-raiser benefits Action for Self-Reliance, Hope and Awareness, an Indian charity organization. Indian silk scarves and Pashmina shawls will be auctioned. Tickets are $15 a person or $35 for a family of up to four people. Call 235-4925.

Monday, July 1

A neighborhood meeting on water and sewer projects is at 7-9 p.m. at City Hall for the areas of Forest Glen, Harrington Heights, Mariner Village/Thorn Subdivision, West Lakeshore Drive, Thompson Drive, East Road (near Pioneer Cemetery) and Hillside Acres.

Tuesday, July 2

Wynn Nature Center holds a preschool program at 10:30 a.m. at Mile 1.5 East Skyline Drive. Call 235-6667.

Kindness Without Borders lights a candle for a kindness zone 12:15-12:30 p.m. at WKFL Park.

The Pioneer Dock ceremony is at 2:30 p.m. at the new dock on the Spit.

Library Advisory Board meets at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

Wednesday, July 3

Planning Commission holds a work session at 6 p.m. followed by a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.
