Get your ducks in a row for July 4

Summer solstice parties are over, and, guess what? We still have rain. Let the summer begin. A big Fourth of July weekend is upon us. With family, friends, food and the great outdoors, we gather to celebrate our independence. Did you know that Independence Day is the only holiday that celebrates the United States as a whole? The Declaration of Independence, unanimously declared by the 13 United States of America, was adopted by the Continental Congress in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776.

There will be many events to join in on at many different areas in Anchor Point. You can find a schedule of events at various businesses in Anchor Point. Please don’t forget to pick up after yourselves. Let’s make Fourth of July weekend safe with many new memories. Have a great Fourth and be safe.

Get your ducks! The duck race happens Tuesday. Ducks are being sold at various businesses in Anchor Point. Fourth of July buttons also are on sale.

Anchor Point Senior Citizen Center

Bingo starts at 7 p.m. Friday. Thursday dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. Cost for members is $5; for nonmembers, $7.

Massage your mind with a good book. The library has books for all ages.

VFW Post 10221

Saturday is steak night from 6-8 p.m. Karaoke with Tom follows dinner. Sunday is another fish fry day from 4-6 p.m. Is anyone interested in donating some halibut? The VFW freezers are empty. On the Fourth of July, there will be a horseshoe tournament. Other upcoming events include a community garage sale on July 15 in the VFW parking lot and a barbecue on July 22.
