Kurtzman enjoyed gardening, needlework and painting.
“Bonnie was involved in the Shekinah Ministries for more than 15 years. Her passion was to minister and lead people to the Lord. Well loved and respected in the Homer community, she touched the hearts of all she met in her travels. The door to her heart and her home were open to all. She left us all memories to cherish,” the family wrote.
Kurtzman was preceded in death by her parents, Cole and Edna Abbott and sister, Coryell Huggins. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jack Kurtzman of Homer; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Keiko Sund of Japan; grandson, Kenny Sund of Japan; daughter and son-in-law, Kandie and Rick Evans of Hawaii; granddaughter, Heather Evans of Hawaii; great-grandson, Michael Evans of Hawaii; brother, Steve Abbott of Washington and sister, Corrine Paulson of Washington.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., July 8 at the Shekinah Revival Center, 850 Nelson Ave., in Homer. Pastor Ron Durman will officiate. Please join the family in fellowship and sharing Bonnie’s memories. Her ashes will be scattered in Kachemak Bay at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kurtzman’s memory to the Anchorage Fire Department, 100 East Fourth Ave., Anchorage, Alaska 99501.

Kurtzman was born Oct. 24, 1932 to Cole and Edna Abbott in Wenatchee, Wash. She married Jack Kurtzman in 1968. In 1973 the family moved to Anchorage where Kurtzman worked as a dispatcher at the Anchorage Fire Department. She worked as a secretary at CICADA in Homer, as a bookkeeper for various small businesses in Homer and later as a dispatcher for the Homer Police Department. Her work took her from Prudhoe Bay to Texas with many stops in between. The Kurtzmans lived in Hawaii for five years and returned to Homer to settle into retirement.
