Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, a Wisconsin-based aid association for Lutherans, has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Habitat for Humanity South Kenai Peninsula project in Homer.
Richard Behnken, a financial associate with the aid group presented the check earlier this year to begin the "Building Hope ... Building Homes" project.
Thrivent and its predecessor have provided nearly $10 million to build close to 500 Habitat for Humanity homes.
"The generosity of (Thrivent) will allow concerned members of the community to help build not only a home, but a better life, for one of their neighbors," said Dan Boone, project coordinator.
