Homer was royally represented at the Ninilchik Rodeo over the weekend, with Andrea Ardenia, left, reigning as Little Miss Rodeo and Melanie Mastolier crowned Miss Rodeo. Both young women are from Homer. For results, see www.homernews.com.

Rain dampened the Ninilchik Rodeo Saturday, but sunshine on the Fourth of July brought out large turnouts for the second day of the rodeo, as well as parades in Anchor Point and Homer. On the Anchor Point Road, people watched a parade of fire vehicles, classic cars and monster trucks.

In Homer, Pioneer Avenue crowds were sometimes three deep for the parade, themed "Homer — Our Town USA."

The Homer Chamber of Commerce announced the following winners in its parade contest:
