Robert Coy "Robbie" Noreen

Obituary

Former Homer resident Robert "Robbie" Coy Noreen, 65, of Shawnee, Kansas died July 5, 2003, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. Funeral Services were held July 9, 2003, at the Merriam Christian Church, with burial in Shawnee Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Luke's Heart Institute.

Noreen was born in Pine City, Minn. on Feb. 2, 1938. He married Raylene Noreen Feb. 20, 1960, in Salinas, Kansas. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force. He also worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline (Duke Energy) as Stores Superintendent. He was a member of Merriam Christian Church and was loved by his wife and children and grandchildren. He ran Seasonings and Etc. on Pioneer Avenue while living in Homer.

Robbie loved camping, his poodles, spending time with his grandchildren and listening to his wife play the piano and sing his favorite songs. His family said, "He will be remembered as a loving, caring person who brought smiles to those around him."

He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Geneva Noreen. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Raylene Noreen; his son, Randall and his wife Missy Noreen of Overland Park, Kansas; two daughters, Robyn Smith of Mission, Kansas and Rhonda Noreen of Shawnee, Kansas; his mother-in-law Verlene Smith of Topeka, Kansas; sister, Betty and her husband, Richard Friestad of Indio, Calif; and . grandchildren Garrett and Rebeca Noreen and Kalli McNeely.

Arrangements were by Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, Kansas.
