Thanks for the Fourth of July

What a day we had for the Fourth of July. It was great to see all the participation in the parade this year. I think it was one of the longest parades the Anchor Point area has had in quite a while. It had to have lasted at least 15 minutes. I want to thank everyone who works so hard to make all of this happen. Thank you to all of the chamber members and volunteers for what you do.

With our grand celebration of the Fourth of July, the Anchor Point community also had its tragedies. Stay strong. We have a great community; let us not forget that it is during difficult times that we come together even stronger.

Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce

If anyone would like to volunteer, there are many openings. Please call 235-2600.

Hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Friday through Monday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Anchor Point Library

Don’t forget to open a good book. Summer hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Anchor Point Senior Citizen Center

Bingo is every Friday starting at 7 p.m. Tonight’s dinner is baked halibut. Serving begins at 6 p.m. Cost is $5 for members and $7 for nonmembers. Sunday is breakfast from 9-11 a.m.

Helping Hands

This “rainbow of hope” is open from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday and Saturday.

VFW Post 10221

Dollar taco night is Monday. There will be a community yard sale from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot on Milo Fritz Avenue. Anyone interested in setting up a table should call 235-5582. There will be a $5 charge for table space. The Ladies Auxiliary will have a hot dog and baked goody sale.

Saturday also is steak night from 6-8 p.m. Karaoke with Tom follows at 9 p.m.

July 22, there will be an old-fashioned barbecue from 4-7 p.m. The horseshoe pits are in the back and you’ll always find someone who would like to pitch a shoe or two.

Community News

There will be a benefit for Allen Chapman at C&L Blue Bus in Anchor Point from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday or until it’s all gone. Burger, fries and drink will be available for a $10 donation. Proceeds will go to the Chapman family in memory of Allen Chapman.

You can be part of the solution by becoming part of the Anchor Point disaster response program, sponsored by the Anchor Point Senior Citizens Inc. For more information and free training, call 235-7786.
