Grant to help fund playground work

I am writing on behalf of the Homer Playground Project to express our heartfelt gratitude to Dave and Beth Schroer, the David and Mary Schroer Fund (a donor-advised fund at the Homer Foundation), and to the Homer Foundation for a recent grant of $7,500 that will help achieve the vision of a new playground at Karen Hornaday Park.

The vote of confidence to HoPP at the beginning of our year-long campaign has been a huge boost to morale and will help enormously as we seek to raise additional funds for the playground. Dave and Beth Schroer have done so much for children and recreation in this community over the years and exhibit the kind of vision and generosity that makes Homer such a great place to raise kids.

The grant will be used for early public outreach and activities leading to the first design drawings of the new playground. A community-wide "Design Day" event is being planned for September. We urge other individuals, organizations and business owners to get involved. Check out our Facebook page or contact us at HomerPlayground@gmail.com.
