Instead of the dates earlier announced, Soldotna Mayor Dave Carey said Monday that the Sterling Highway will be closed July 27, 30 and on Aug. 1, 3, 6 and 8, all between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. During those periods, north-south highway traffic will have to divert through Kenai.
State Project Manager Matt Coullahan, Soldotna City Manager Tom Boedeker and Carey met Monday to reset the closure dates when a delay in the road job near Seward tossed another monkey wrench into the timing of the Soldotna bridge project. Girders needed for the Kenai River bridge cannot move out of Seward until the paving job there is completed.
