Ronald Taylor Creasey

Ronald Taylor Creasey died July 11, 2006, of congestive heart failure at his home in Kenai, surrounded by family. He was 74.

Ronald Taylor Creasey
Creasey was born Jan. 13, 1932, to Fred Wayne and Ruth Areta Carmichael Creasey in Filer, Idaho. He moved to Fairbanks in 1959 where he worked as a carpenter with Local 1243 of the Carpenters Union. In 1975 he moved to Homer with his family and continued to work in carpentry. He attended school for refrigeration repair and owned RC Refrigeration in Homer until 1987, when he retired.

Creasey was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Kenai and of Glacierview Baptist Church in Homer. He was active with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years and was a member of the Pioneers of Alaska, Igloo 32. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

“Ron was a loving husband, father of six, grandfather of 17 and great-grandfather of eight. He was the family idol and an inspiration to all of us. He loved having his family and friends come to fish with him on his boat, the “Caroline.” Even at the end of his life we will remember his quote, ‘You don’t have to do it, you get to.’ Throughout his life we don’t know anyone who didn’t like him. He was well liked by his friends. We never heard anyone say anything bad about him. He will be remembered by all for his honesty, integrity and fairness in both his personal and professional relationships. He will be sorely missed,” his family wrote.

Mr. Creasey was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Wayne Creasey; brothers, Ed, Gordon and Bill Creasey; sons, Darrell Thompson and Clinton Creasey. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Anna Creasey of Kenai; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Roger Johnson and children, of Soldotna; daughter, Theresa Leavitt and children, of Kasilof; daughter Fredricka Thompson and children, of Kenai; son, Robert Thompson of Kenai; twin brother, Donald Creasey and his wife, Barb, of Washington; brothers, Wendell Creasey and his wife, Lorraine, of South Dakota and Larry Creasey and his wife, Jean, of Oregon and sisters-in-law, Dolly and Maxine Creasey, both of Washington.

A memorial service was held July 16 at Glacierview Baptist Church in Homer. Pastors Rick Wise and Phil Reemstma officiated.

Contributions in memory of Mr. Creasey may be made to the American Heart Association, 1057 W. Fireweed Lane, Suite 100, Anchorage, Alaska 99503.

Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
