Evans, also the executive editor of the Peninsula Clarion in Kenai, assumed her new duties Monday. Gary Thomas, who has served as publisher of the Homer News since January 2002 will resume his previous duties as business manager and special sectionsdirector. Thomas has been at the Homer News since 1998.
Evans worked at the Juneau Empire as a reporter and section editor before being named the newspaper's assistant editor in 1982. She was named editor of the Peninsula Clarion in 1991, when the newspaper was purchased by Morris Communications Corp., which also owns the Homer News and the Empire.
"We are pleased to give Lori this opportunity," said Stan Pitlo, publisher of the Peninsula Clarion. "She has the background and experience to take the Homer News to the next level."
