Street Fair, Highland Games transform Homer high School

The Homer Council on the Arts sponsored Street Fair and the Homer Scottish Highland Games, a fund-raiser for Kachemak heritage Land Trust, created a festive environment Saturday as they combined venues at Home High School

The Patrons of the Pratt Museum raffled off this quilt.  
More than 100 vendors sold wares, tatoos and food at the fair, while kilted athletes and area residents proved their mettle in traditional and non-traditional Scottish games.

Ralph Stover's bear sculpture garnered some attention.  
Tim Johnson from Kenai and Eric Scheunemann of Anchorage tied in the competition's heavy-weight division. Johnson also won the Mad Golfers Club Toss and the Halibut Throw events.

Candles and other homemade wears were for sale throughout the fair.  
Dave Patterson of Anchorage set a new Alaska record for the master's age bracket in the 42 pound weight for height event. He threw it 14 feet.
