Shadow

Who knows what fear lurks in the hearts of shelter animals? Shadow knows. It may be that Spidey is the superhero of choice these days, but the shelter animals will take whatever help they can get. Not only are Shadow and his mates going through the usual trauma of homelessness, but this week they're being moved to the Spit as the shelter relocates to its temporary quarters at the site of the old chip pile. So there's banging and walls being torn down and car rides and new smells and new sights. Shadow hopes that if anyone out there has been thinking about adopting a pet (especially a 3-year-old neutered black cat who loves kids and is very affectionate), now is the time to do it.

If you'd like to adopt a pet, call or stop by the animal shelter on the Bypass across from the post office. The shelter is open seven days a week, 11 a.m.to 2 p.m. Call 235-3141, or visit the shelter's Web site at www.homeranimalshelter.com.
