Exuberant Alaskan Alpines Dr. Kenneth Hahn and Linda Stearns, owners Rare and beautiful alpine specimens from Nome highlight this garden. Kamchatka rhododendron and kinnikinnik flower near tiny Portage poppies. Woodland paths lead to pocket gardens of bog marigold and up to a hillside vegetable garden. An inventive organic greenhouse is brimming with edibles planted for successive crops. The rustic setting frames the rock garden bordered by delphiniums and peonies. This garden provides the opportunity to view unusual Alaska plants and Arctic treasures. Living Happily Off the Land Jim and Linda Reinhart, owners An updated original homestead supports several generations through use of practical cultivation. Moose are kept from sampling the vegetables by an effective but unusual "fence." Rows of flourishing artichokes are mind boggling.
