She is currently a teacher at Kenai Central High School.

Randy is the son of Robert Stuart Borland IV and Luned Inglima Borland of Homer. A fourth-generation Alaskan, Randy was born in Anchorage and grew up in Homer. He graduated from Homer High School and attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Currently, he works as a logistics coordinator for XTO Energy in Nikiski.

The wedding party included Michelle's sister and maid of honor Erica Bayes Fitzpatrick, bridesmaid Bobbi Moore O'Kelley, best man Barrett Gribble and groomsman Joe Inglis. Cecilia Fitzpatrick, Michelle's niece, was the flower girl, and Robert "Bobby" Stuart Borland VI, Randy's nephew, was the ring bearer. An erupting Mount Redoubt delayed some family members and prevented others from making the trip altogether, but many friends and family attended from Arizona, Washington and all around Alaska.

Highlights of the reception, held at Alice's Champagne Palace, included Bill deCreeft joining Jenni Stuart of the Crow Creek Pipe and Drum Band on the bagpipes and a delicious wedding cheesecake made by Randy's cousin Shannon Schoepke Brooks.

Randy and Michelle spent a few days skiing at Alyeska in March before returning to their home in Kenai. In June, they spent their honeymoon exploring Lake Powell, Ariz., on a houseboat.
