Chamber says thanks
The Fourth of July parade was a great event thanks to numerous people. First off, a big thanks to GCI for sponsoring the parade. Thanks also to the Homer Police Department, the Homer Volunteer Fire Department and U.S. Coast Guard for their help in making the parade a success.

Thanks to Bay Realty and Main Street Mercantile for sponsoring the pre- and post-parade parties, and to The Rockwells for the great entertainment.

Thanks also to parade emcee Chris Story, Ulmer's, Twin Peaks Construction, Homer High School and Kachemak Bay Campus, Kenai Peninsula College, for their contributions to the parade and to Alaska RoadBuilders and the Alaska Department of Transportation for getting Pioneer Avenue finished in time.

The floats in the parade were wonderful, and congratulations to the winners: Kickin' It 4-H Club, The Friendship Center, Nyssa Baechler, Noel Welles Maxwell and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Good job, judges.

Thanks, too, to the many sponsors of the wonderful events that filled the day and made Homer a great place to be on the Fourth of July, Homer of the Free.
