On behalf of the entire public safety community, we would like to thank Cinda Eckert, Dave Weber, the Homer Elks and all the other members of the community who organized and sponsored this outing. A wonderful time was had by all.

Officers honored
About 150 people enjoyed the music provided by the Nelson Family, the “animal balloons” made by local clowns Sweetheart and Chummie, barbecued burgers with all the other goodies that go with them, the dunk tank, relay games and the treasure hay stack at the Elks Club on July 16 when the community gathered in appreciation for our local public safety officers.
Huge kudos to the following businesses for the help in making this worthwhile event happen: Wells Fargo Bank, Cellular One, Snomad Snowmachine Club, ACS, First National Bank, Best Western Bidarka Inn, GCI, Alaska USA Credit Union, Kachemak Foods, the Danny J, Northern Enterprises Boatyard, Accordia Insurance, HEA, Safeway, senior centers in both Anchor Point and Homer, Save-U-More, McNeil Canyon Meats, Nomar, Homer News, Homer Tribune, KBBI, KGTL and Coca Cola. The generosity expressed by all of you was overwhelming.
But, once again, we honor and thank you our local fire departments, police, troopers, EMTs and Coast Guard Auxiliary. You folks allow the rest of us to live safely and peacefully in our homes and where we work and play.
Dave Weber, picnic organizer, on behalf of: Homer Emblem Club, American Legion Post 16, Homer Ministerial Association, Homer and Anchor Point chambers of commerce, Homer Elks, Snowmad Snowmachine Club, Rotary Club, Kachemak City and Girl Scouts of Homer
