The Homer High School Athletics Department is looking for a cross-country running coach for this year. Practice is scheduled to start Monday. Call Chris Perk, athletic director, at 299-1330 for more information.
The Homer Lady Mariners Softball Team announces its first Homer OVER-THE-LINE Tournament for Aug. 6 at Karen Hornaday Park, beginning at 10 a.m.
Teams will compete in four divisions of Men, Women, Co-Ed and Women under 18 for the chance to win $150 first place money. For more information go to marinersoftball.net or call 235-7739. All proceeds will go to support the Homer Lady Mariners Softball Program.
The Homer Racing Lions invites everyone to attend their third city race Saturday at the motocross track near Anchor Point. Racers of all ages and ability will compete in various classes. Sign-up for racing begins at 9 a.m., practice at 10 a.m. and the racing action begins at 11 a.m. Spectators will be charged a small gate fee with children 12 and under and seniors allowed in free. The Kachemak Bay Lions will be on hand serving up grilled burgers and hot dogs.
Mariner week will officially kick off the fall football season and begin Monday. Players will be issued a Spirit Pack ($35) at 7 a.m., followed by an orientation at 8 a.m., and practices from noon to 2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. For more information call Cam Wyatt at 235-7704.Coach needed
