Elizabeth Scollan Watney will temporarily close her psychotherapy practice from August 15 until the spring of 2006 while she spends time in Fairbanks.
Watney has practiced in the Homer area since 1990, and in Alaska since 1981, and is certified in one of only four treatments authorized by the Department of Defense and the Veterans Administration for the treatment of combat post traumatic stress disorder. The process, called eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, also has a wide spectrum of applications for the general public, from trauma to anxiety to sports performance enhancement, she said.
