Walter Hebb rolls over a slab of baleen from a humpback whale at Mako’s Water Taxi on the Homer Spit as Janice Higbee watches. The baleen came from a humpback whale that died in mid July and washed up on a Peterson Bay beach. Hebb, a boat captain for Mako’s Water Taxi, collected the baleen before it could float away on the tide and recovered it for the Pratt Museum.
