Pet of the Week

Wallis
Wallis is mellow — not much bothers him. Like when he was left in a cat carrier outside the animal shelter’s door. Apparently, his former owners couldn’t take care of him, but that still didn’t bother him too much — he kept his cool. Since then the animal shelter has become a cooler place — it even dropped two degrees inside.

With that mellow attitude in hand, it’s no surprise that Wallis, a 1-year-old cat, gets along very well with other cats.

If you need a dose of mellow in your home, and if you’d like to adopt a pet, call or stop by the Animal Shelter across from Public Works off the Sterling Highway. The shelter has a number of other nice, adult cats who also need a home.

The shelter also has several rats for adoption. Rats make great pets, and will ride around on their owners’ shoulders once they get to know them. They will not, however, mess with mellow, adult cats.

The shelter is open seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 235-3141 for more information.
