Last year, it cost the Homer Community Food Pantry many hundreds of dollars for the ongoing process of running trucks and cars hither and thither transporting food from supplies to the needy -- money we then didn't have for meeting the direct needs of clients. This year, enter the Safety Net Fund of The Alaska Community Foundation. A generous grant of $3,000 was awarded to us recently to help cover these costs. Happy day.
