The series consists of 10 races throughout the state and points are awarded to top riders in each category.
“We’re a little bit overwhelmed, but we’re excited about it,” said Mike Arno with the Homer Racing Lions.
The Lions have been holding city races for the past two years, but getting the state series races in town shows the Homer club is established, Arno said.
Racers from around the state will likely compete for points and trophies. And the Lions are holding a raffle to entice racers and fans alike.
A drawing for a trip to Las Vegas, Nev., for the US Open of Motocross in October will take place during the weekend. The winning ticket earns round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations and race tickets. Raffle tickets are $20 each or $100 for six.
Practice begins at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday with races following.
Entry fees per day are $30 first class and entry forms are available at www.homerracinglions.com.

The Lions are hosting races seven and eight. The final two series races will be held Sept. 2 to 3 in Kenai.
