Sunday's run supports breast cancer detection, mammograms

Registration for the 17th annual Homer Breast Cancer Run is now available online at kbfpc.org or at the Kachemak Bay Family Planning Clinic, 3959 Ben Walters Lane. The run begins 11 a.m. Sunday, and includes a 5-mile and 1-mile fun run course, starting and ending at Bishop's Beach. In lieu of an entrance fee, tax-deductible sponsorships and donations of any amount are encouraged, and 100 percent of proceeds stay in Homer to support early breast cancer detection and the local mammogram program. Participants are encouraged to wear pink. KBFPC is currently recruiting volunteers to help with flagging and other duties. The run is co-sponsored by Pink Ribbon Days Charities Inc. of Alaska. For more information, visit kbfpc.org or call 235-3436.
