The beaches the Alaska Department of Fish and Game is talking about are on our side of the bay. Why is Fish and Game refusing to have a hearing in Seldovia? The oyster farms in Jakolof Bay are a good example of what can happen. Started out a small area, now spread across the bay leaving a narrow maze for boats to maneuver through to get into the bay.
If this ban is lifted, we will have the same thing happen with our clams taken from us for profit only. Besides future constrictions on our clams, the harm to other sea life will be tremendous. We will lose everything, and only a few select will profit with our sacrifice.
We want a hearing in Seldovia as soon as possible. I e-mailed Fish and Game and Rep. Paul Seaton with copies going to two of his assistants over 10 days ago and have not received any acknowledgement that they received my e-mails.
