A Social Security representative visits from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Homer Senior Center. Call (800) 772-1213.

Registration is 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 21-22 for grades 3-6 at Fireweed Academy.

Homer High School seniors can pick up schedules 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Aug. 21; juniors can pick up schedules 9 a.m.-noon and sophomores can pick up schedules 1-3 p.m. Aug. 22; freshmen can pick up schedules 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Aug. 25.

Kachemak Heritage Land Trust holds a monotype painting class with Marian Beck from 2-6 p.m. Aug. 21 at Beck's studio in Halibut Cove. Learn monotype painting and printing with glass. Registration is $50 a person and includes water taxi. Register by Aug. 19. Call 235-5263.

Parks and Recreation Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 21 at Homer City Hall.

The Homer Scottish Highland Games are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 23 at 65235 Sprucewood Drive. A fundraiser to purchase 160 acres of the Baycrest Ski Trail "highlands" in the Diamond Creek watershed, the games are sponsored by Kachemak Heritage Land Trust and Kachemak Nordic Ski Club in association with the Anchorage Scottish Club and the Homer Chamber of Commerce. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 children age 6-15 and $30 for families of three or more. Call 235-5263.
