Mr. Wallace was born July 8, 1948, in Rapid City, S.D. He graduated from Michigan State University, East Lansing, with a degree in biology. He then volunteered for service in Vietnam. After his tour of duty he moved to Homer in 1976 and began shoeing horses and working as a blacksmith. He was an active rugby and volleyball player. Mr. Wallace also worked with Cook Inlet Keeper and volunteered with Hospice of Homer.
He is survived by his mother, Virginia Wallace, of Scottville, Mich.; his brothers, Larry Wallace of Minneapolis and Jimmy Wallace of Thailand; sisters Lee Johnson of Portland, Ore., and Linda Wade of Michigan; and children, Aaron Wallace, Burt Wallace, Sam Reinert and Isabel McLay.
