Changing hours<P> Homer Council on the Arts has new office hours effective immediately. The gallery and office will be open from noon-6 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Call for art

The Alaska State Council on the Arts has announced a call for art for the Fairbanks Pioneer Home. The deadline is Sept. 29, and the art budget is $2,815. For more information, visit the Web at www.eed.state.ak.us.aksca to view Artist Opportunities.

Savoonga exhibit in Kenai

The public is invited to the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center from 7-9 p.m. Sunday for a performance by the Savoonga Drummers and Dancers from St. Lawrence Island. The event is sponsored by the Kenaitze Indian Tribe, the Pratt Museum of Homer and the Kenai Convention and Visitors Bureau. Admission is free. For more information, call (907) 283-1991.

Mushroom madness

“Alaska’s Wild Mushrooms” is the title of a workshop with mushroom expert Chris Riggio at Across the Bay Tent and Breakfast Adventure Company Friday through Sunday. Topics include identification of various species, macroscopic features, habitats and cooking. Fee is $340 plus tax. An extra four-hour guided sea kayak trip for mushroom harvesting is optional for $65 plus tax. For more information, call 235-3633.
