Fireweed signals shifting of season, new events

Happy end of August everyone. I guess the inevitable is finally here. Yepper, that's right, fall is here. What a beautiful time of year; colors, colors and more colors. The fireweed is about to their tippy top and of course we know what that means: six weeks until winter. Hey, not so quick. Schools are in full force so be careful for our children waiting on the roadsides for their bus to arrive. Welcome back to school. Anchor Point finds us a little quiet this time of year.

Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce

Black Powder State Rendezvous Sept. 5th and 6th. This is a pre-1840s weekend of fun. Anchor Point's first annual event. This will be held at the Anchor Point Shooting Range. There is a 10 a.m. mandatory meeting Sept 5. The events for both days will be from 10:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will also be a potluck for both evenings including a bonfire. Also planned for this event is a dark skillet toss. For more information, call Clint at 235-1599 or Sandy at 235-4973.

Anchor Point Senior Center

Tonight's dinner will be chicken cacciatore. Salad bar opens at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is served at 6 p.m. Don't forget about our great night of fun. That's right; we have Friday Night Bingo. We would love to see you there.

Our monthly fish fry is Aug. 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. Stop on in for a great bite to eat. Members and guests are welcome.
