Big guns and smiles
Officer Andy Deveaux, left, poses with Ben Rasmussen at the Homer Police open house held Tuesday. Deveaux wears the uniform and gear of a Special Emergency Response Team member, and talked about the weapons police use, on display on a police cruiser behind him. Chief Mark Robl said about 200 people showed up for the open house. Officers showed visitors the inner workings of the station, including a jail cell, the squad room, the booking room, the dispatch center and crime lab. Police also gave away unclaimed bicycles.
