Art Shop does not have a First Friday event scheduled for September. A Rie Munoz retrospective, featuring old and new work, will take place in October. The second annual ornament exhibit with a silent auction benefiting Hospice of Homer will happen in November and December.
Artist and studio owner Gail Baker is featuring toilet seat art, painted furniture and floor cloths this month. The opening reception is from 5-7 p.m. Friday.
Two artists are featured at Bunnell during September. Nancy Burnham’s mixed media pieces from her series “Quill” consists of wall and floor pieces using primarily porcupine quills. Susan Farnham’s paintings focus on place and travel, and her interest in capturing impressions from physical and spiritual environments. Friday’s artist’s talk is 4:30 p.m. The opening reception follows at 5:30. The exhibit continues through Oct. 5.
“Pele-Mele,” art by Maryvonne Guillemin, is featured during September at the gallery. The artist expresses her love of nature and the ocean through watercolor, acrylics, stained glass, pottery and clay. An opening reception will be at 5-7 p.m. on Friday. The exhibit continues through Sept. 30.
“Just Ask Alice,” black and white and color photography by Homer artist Aleda Yourdon, are featured at Fireweed this month. “The exhibit is a visual story that concerns the letting go of the need to explain or understand, and learning just to enjoy the possibilities,” Yourdon said. An opening reception is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Friday. The exhibit continues through Oct. 5.
“How the Ink Feels: A Traveling Exhibit of Letterpress Broadsides by Distinguished Artists and Writers” is featured at HCOA during the month of September. A gala reception will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday. The exhibit can be seen through Sept. 28.
The photography of Jaime Clapp will be featured for a second month at Latitude 59, with new items added. There will be no First Friday reception. The exhibit continues through September

Awarding-winning artist-potter Letha Cress Woolf’s batiks, black pottery, platters and more will be on exhibit at Picture Alaska, beginning with a reception 5-7:30 p.m. Friday and continuing through Oct. 6. Her interest in clay began when she was a child, living in the mountains of Colorado. Her batiks are created using an ancient technique requiring a jaunting tool, wax and dyes on silk.
Debuting in August, “Aquatic Influences,” continues through Oct. 2, featuring paintings by Asia Freeman, metalwork by Susan Kingsley and skin vessels by Fran Reed.
“The Water Wins,” acrylics on canvas by former Homer artist Cheri Greer can be seen at the gallery beginning with an opening reception 5-7 p.m. Friday, and continuing through Oct. 5. The show is based on a sandcastle-building experience Greer shared with her young grandson.
The Washboard, at 1204 Ocean Drive, has plenty to exhibit, with a recycling point of view and all the items left behind by customers at this laundry-shower-espresso business, from dryer lint to espresso grounds. The name of the exhibit is “Trashy Art.” The gallery opens at 7 a.m. and stays open until 10 p.m. The exhibit runs through Sept. 5.Art Shop Gallery
