Homer Alaska - Letters

Story last updated at 9:55 PM on Wednesday, September 1, 2010

Let's talk about sharing the roads

I'd like to start this letter by alienating most likely half of Homer and surrounding areas. "Oh, you think THAT huh!?" Well, I disagree and therefore you are undoubtedly a dunderhead. For anyone born after 1950, "dunderhead" is defined pure and simple: a stupid person. So if you disagree with me, you are stupid.

Seriously though, if you disagree with me, particularly on the subject of bikes as an appropriate and sane means of transportation, let's talk, in person. I've already written two letters calling for mutual respect and understanding on the road in the past. I included a suggestion to please look up the laws and regulations yourself if you didn't believe that bikes have the same rights.

Some of you obviously either didn't look it up because you were so sure you were right, or had just stopped reading because you disagreed with something in the first sentence and had moved on with your life.

Well, this evening (Thursday, Sept. 2) is the Homer Area Cycling Club meeting, and you are invited. My name is Chase, and I would very much appreciate the opportunity to listen, and speak with you.

The meeting is at the Homer High School, Room A104 at 6:30 p.m. Thank you for your time. Hope to see you there.
