Scholarship opens up possibilities
With two children beginning a new year with Kenai Peninsula schools, my family has one more school schedule in the mix. Thanks to a generous scholarship from the Alaska Library Association (AkLA), I am also headed back to school and will be attending the University of Washington's Master's in Library & Information Science program from Homer.
The University of Washington program is unique in that it uses the latest technology to provide its top-notch MLIS program to students in Seattle and online to students around the globe. Without the AkLA scholarship I would not be able to access the vast resources at the University of Washington while remaining in the community my family and I call home.
My passion for libraries, and the Homer Library in particular, grew eight years ago when the campaign to build a new library was under way. With my MLIS degree, I look forward to being a part of libraries for many years to come. Thank you to AkLA and see you at the Homer Library soon.
