Three Anchor Point men have been charged for several burglaries dating back to the spring of 2008. In charging documents filed last week, the Kenai District Attorney's Office alleges that Nathan E. Sargeant III, 21, Ross A. Poindexter, 21, and Henri V. Mischler, 20, broke into homes and a business in the Anchor Point area. The business, The Warehouse, was hit twice. Sargeant and Poindexter were charged with four separate burglaries and Mischler with three burglaries between March 28 and April 28, 2008. Sargeant and Poindexter have been charged with three counts of first-degree burglary, three counts of second-degree theft, two counts of second-degree burglary, one count of third-degree criminal mischief, all felonies; two counts of third-degree theft, three counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief and two counts of third-degree theft. Mischler is charged with two counts of first-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree theft, two counts of second-degree burglary, all felonies; two counts of third-degree theft, three counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, and two counts of third-degree theft. Items stolen in the burglaries included a 42-inch LCD television set, a walrus skull with tusks and a bear rug, about $600 total in food and drinks from The Warehouse, a flat-screen TV broken in the theft, and a fire safe and contents. The charges resulted from an Alaska State Trooper investigation in May 2008 into a series of burglaries in Anchor Point. Troopers interviewed relatives and friends of the defendants who had information about the suspects. Other suspects were named in charging documents but not charged. One man said he drove the defendants to The Warehouse but did not want to be involved in the burglary. Other suspects were named for receiving stolen property but not charged. Summonses have been issued for all three men. According to court records, a summons was served on Sargeant on Aug. 25, with arraignment set for Sept. 7. Poindexter and Mischler have not yet been contacted. Kenai District Attorney Lance Joanis did not return messages asking why the charges were made two years after the trooper investigation.
