Triathlon raises swim team funds The 10th annual Homer Mariner Iron Man Triathlon is scheduled for Saturday. This race is in honor of Val Kirsis, triathlete, and is a fundraiser for the Homer High School Mariner swim team. For the first time this race will offer team competition or iron man/individual entries. Start time is at 8 a.m. with warm-ups at 7 a.m. The course is a 1,000-yard swim at the Kate Kuhns Aquatic Center, a 15-mile bike ride and a 5-mile run. Early individual entry fees are $50 with a T-shirt; early team entry fees are $100 with three T-shirts. For more information, e-mail akfletchers@ xyz.net. Homer, SoHi split dual meet Host Homer split a dual swim meet with Soldotna on Tuesday. Homer's girls won 105-75 while SoHi's boys scored 98 points to Homer's 76. Alder Fletcher led the Mariners with two wins. His first came in the 50 freestyle followed by a win in the 100 backstroke. Fletcher was also part of the winning 200 medley relay along with Kyle Wentz, Richard Ginter and Nathan Hardy. Raiders defeated All three Raiders football teams suffered losses last weekend in games in Anchorage and Eagle River. Ethan Pitzman scored a touchdown in the Mighty Mites' 19-7 loss to the Jaguars in Eagle River. Logan Harris connected with Dawson Felde for a touchdown against the Junior Peewee Jaguar team in the Homer team's 32-6 loss. The Midgets were held scoreless by the Eagles in Anchorage 30-0. For the season the Mighty Mites are 1-2; the Junior Peewees are 2-1; and the Midgets are 0-2.
