As the summer art season winds down, galleries present a diversity of works and artists, with multi-artist shows at several venues. A common subject of much Alaska art -- the land and wildlife -- is featured in shows like Cordova artist David Rosenthal's exhibit at the Fireweed Gallery. At Picture Alaska, it's a family affair when the Kolstad-Calder family shows their oil, watercolor and acrylic paintings. In a recycled and found object art show at Ptarmigan, through natural objects, the land itself becomes the media, with works created from driftwood, kelp, sea shells and beach rocks. The show also includes work made from old clothing, bicycle parts or yard debris.
