Saturday, Sept. 7

Citizens Concerned About Annexation holds a "wheeling and dealing" flea market 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at KGTL/K-WAVE radio station on Diamond Ridge Road. Buy, sell or trade anything with a wheel or motor: cars, boats, bikes, ATVs, snowmachines, etc. Entry fee is $5 per item, with proceeds benefiting CCAA. Call Eileen at 235-7526.

Mental Health Class meets 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Homer City Hall.

Kindness Without Borders holds a few moments of kindness with a candle-lighting from 12:15 to 12:30 p.m. at WKFL Park.

Homer Animal Friends meets at 5:30 p.m. at Homer City Hall.

Parking Task Force meets at 7 p.m. at Homer City Hall.

Wednesday, Sept. 11

Kindness Without Borders and Vessels of Hope hold an Honoring Vigil 3-8 p.m. at WKFL Park to honor those who have died as a result of the Sept. 11 attacks. Call 235-5329.

Kate Finn, nurse and healing-touch practitioner, discusses how Healing Touch can be used as a comfort option in the care of patients in the home from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Homer Senior Center. Her talk is the second in the Fall Forum series sponsored by Hospice of Homer. Call 235-6899.

Beach Policy Task Force meets at 7 p.m. at Homer City Hall.

Upcoming Events

The Family Learning Center and Homer Public Health present meetings to discuss services for families with preschool children. Come to either meeting 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, or 1:30-3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13.

The Public Health nurse visits Nikolaevsk School 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, and the Ninilchik Clinic 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, for pregnancy testing, TB testing and well-child checkups. Call 235-8857 or (800) 770-8857.

The Council for the Kachemak Bay Research Reserve meets 1-4:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16 at the research reserve office on Kachemak Drive. Call 235-4799 ext. 5.

Hospice of Homer's Fall Forum series continues with Sallie Rediske and Susan Woodward discussing breathing, visualization and biofeedback techniques from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Homer Senior Center. Call 235-6899.

A Social Security representative visits 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 at the Homer Senior Center.

The Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies holds a kick-off volunteer gathering and dessert potluck for the 18th annual Coastweeks at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at the center on Smokey Bay Way and Lake Street. This year's focus is on sea duck conservation. Coastweeks runs Sept. 20 to Oct. 5. Call 235-6667.
