The deadline for the 19th Kenai Peninsula Writers' Contest, a project of the Homer News and Homer Council on the Arts, is 5 p.m. Nov. 19. Writers from kindergarten-age and older are invited to submit their fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Works will be judged in the following age groups: kindergarten-third grades, fourth-sixth grades, seventh-ninth grades, 10th-12th grades and open/adult. Cash prizes will be awarded. Entry forms must be completed online. A two-tier system of judging will be used, and winners will be announced and selected entries published in the Homer News in February.
