SPH employees enjoy special lunch

On Thursday, Sept. 2, the employees at South Peninsula Hospital were treated to lunch by the Sons of the American Legion.

Earlier this summer, a representative of the Sons of the American Legion called and said they wanted to thank the employees of the hospital for their commitment and service to the community. We selected Labor Day weekend as the time to celebrate with a free lunch for all.

They pulled up on Thursday with "grills on wheels" and served up a traditional barbecue lunch for 150 employees and visitors to the hospital. The food was great and everybody enjoyed being served generous helpings on a sunny afternoon. The cooking and serving crew was lively, and included Bill McDaniels, Dan Bryant, Mike Jimerson, Scott Connelly and Chip Duggan. I trust, though, that there were more behind-the-scenes contributors, as somebody had to stay up late making the homemade baked beans and pasta salad.

On behalf of the employees at South Peninsula Hospital, thank you to all involved in making and serving us lunch and thanks to the Sons of the American Legion for all you do.

Derotha Ferraro

Director of Public Relations
