Homer News Luella Tumulak, 2, and her father, Manuel Tumulak, members of the Tlingit and Haida Dancers of Anchorage, prepare to welcome kayakers from Nanwalek to the Homer Spit Saturday morning.

"Tamamta Katurlluta — A Gathering of Native Traditions" lived up to its name over the weekend, with an exhibit of Alaska Native art, kayaks on the bay, dancers on the beach, stories at the museum and so much more.

Sponsored by the Pratt Museum, the weekend event is held every two years, and offers a glimpse into Native cultures. This year's gathering included representatives from the Cook Inlet village of Nanwalek, the Tlingit and Haida Dancers of Anchorage and the Kenaitze Indian Tribe's Jabila'ina Dance Group.

Music, dance, food and storytelling by elders and Jack Dalton of Anchorage and an evening performance for the public were part of the program.
