The Homer Council on the Arts presents its first Second Sunday Seminar this week from 2-4 p.m. at the council building. The seminar is free, and is presented by Christa Collier, who recently received her master's degree in neuro-linguistic programming and timeline therapy. The seminar will focus on overcoming stage fright, fear and anxiety in situations ranging from asking for a raise to giving your best performance in front of a crowd. Composer to play
American composer Lawrence Moss will be featured in a concert of his works on Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bunnell Street Gallery. Moss comes to Homer from the University of Maryland, where he teaches composition. His music has been commissioned by the Fromm Foundation, the New Haven Symphony, the University of Chicago Symphony and others. His daughter, Coowe Moss Walker, lives in Homer and helped organize this performance, which will feature solo and varied small ensemble works performed by Mari Hahn, soprano, Laura Koenig, flute, Philip Mugger, trombone, Juliana Osinchuk, piano and Mark Wolbers, clarinet. Moss will also lead a discussion and question-and-answer session during the concert. Tickets are $16 general admission, $15 students, seniors and military and $12 for gallery members. Nutcracker auditions
The Homer Council on the Arts will hold auditions for the 2003 Nutcracker Ballet on Sept. 17. Audition schedules and applications will be available after Tuesday. Participants must bring completed forms and a signed parental release to the audition. Call 235-4288 for more information.
State arts council to meet

Alaska artists wanted
The Artists in the Schools program, run through the Alaska State Council on the Arts, is now accepting applications for the program. Artists of all varieties, including actors, puppeteers, singers, dancers, mimes, musicians, circus artists, dancers and storytellers are encouraged to apply. Ritz art wanted
The Pratt Museum is now seeking donated works of art for the "Ritz 2003 Art Show." The show will be on display at the museum from Oct. 1 through Nov. 6. This year, Anchorage artist David Edlefsen will be critiquing the artwork and selecting several pieces to be awarded prizes. There will be an artists' review and reception on Oct. 10 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The "Ritz 2003" gala and auction will be held on Nov. 8 at the museum. All pieces must be submitted by Sept. 19. Volunteers are needed to assist Paula Dickey and Gaye Wolfe are planning and installing the show. Call 235-8635 for more information.
