A Homer man on Sept. 5 reported to Homer Police that while skateboarding on Lake Street a man in a 1993 Ford Explorer swerved at him as he turned onto Ben Walters Lane and into the eastbound lane. Police arrested Steven Golson, 18, for third-degree assault, a felony.

The victim alleged the Ford crossed the center line and came within two feet of him, and he was afraid he would be hit.

The victim said he jumped off his skateboard and threw it at the Ford and then dove into the ditch on the north side of Ben Walters Lane. The driver stopped, backed up and accelerated toward the victim.

Two witnesses, a person walking by and a passenger, reported seeing something similar.

Police on Sept. 4 saw a man with a walking cane suspected to conceal a sword near the Sterling Highway and Poopdeck Street. The arresting officer alleged that Levin Boone, 18, pulled the sword and circled him and four witnesses from about 50 feet away. He said Boone then tossed the sword-cane into the bushes. Police could not locate the weapon. They arrested Boone for tampering with physical evidence, a felony, and fifth-degree misconduct involving weapons, or carrying a concealed weapon.

Police on Sept. 4 arrested Thayr Watson, 18, for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, after receiving a report that Watson and a woman were arguing by the fuel pumps at Petro Express on the Sterling Highway and he threw the woman to the ground. Police examined a surveillance tape that showed Watson throw the woman to the ground.

A Homer police officer on Aug. 29 saw Teresa Jones, a woman known to him to be under age 21, at a Pioneer Avenue bar. When asked for identification, police allege the suspect told the officer she was 21 and gave him another woman's name. Public safety information records showed her to be age 20. Police arrested Jones for making a false statement and being an underage person at a liquor establishment. During a search while she was being arrested, police found a plastic bag alleged to contain 1.8 grams of marijuana. They also arrested her for sixth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.
