The Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council (KPTMC), Alaska Dept. of Commerce and the Alaska Travel Industry Association is sponsoring an international tourism marketing workshop during KPTMC’s annual tourism conference. The workshop is Sept. 21, from 9:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. at the Challenger Learning Center in Kenai. It is targeted for small- and medium-sized tourism organizations and will help participants learn about the international visitor market and how to capture it. Learn about global warming
The Alaskan Global Warming Web Site was unveiled Sept. 14 and is available at www.alaskaconservationsolutions.com.
On the Web site, in addition to tips on ways Alaskans can reduce their affect on global warming, is a carbon calculator. The carbon calculator allows individuals to measure how much their individual activities contribute to global warming.
Alaska gets grant money
Alaska recently received more than $43.4 million in grants from federal agencies. Among recipients were the Cook Inlet Tribal Council, Inc., $400,000 for child welfare reform and $199,808 for treatment for homeless; the Seldovia Village Tribe, $50,000 from Native American/ Native Hawaiian Museum Services; the Cook Inlet Housing Authority, $14,964,400.
