Homer Alaska - Letters

Story last updated at 6:05 PM on Wednesday, September 14, 2011

Thanks, Homer

Could this summer have been much better? Easing into it with an edible harvest extravaganza, sticking true to form in Alaska-in-July style, we camped, climbed, surfed, canoed, backpacked and hiked. Upstream akin to the salmon, to the alpine amongst the bears, HoWL blazed new trails this summer throughout Kachemak Bay and in the Kenai Wildlife Refuge. We tapered off our activities in time for harvest, though ate many a trail-berry on our last backpacking expedition. And now it's time to settle into the chill, and get ready for next summer and the adventures that await. Thank you, Homer, for supporting this fledgling organization in its third season. Without a community as supportive as ours, this program could never have existed. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Libby Bushell

HoWL executive director, lead guide
