Hockey season slides up

The ice is going in today at Homer's Kevin Bell Arena. Brad Needham took over as the new rink manager on Sept. 1 and team practice for the 2011-12 season begins Oct. 3.

Homer Hockey's fall registration and gear swap will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the rink on the Spit.

Registration forms are available online as well as at the event. Bring gear for sale or donation to the rink by 10 a.m.

A Youth With A Mission camp for 6 to 13-year-olds will be held 4:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 22-23 and 10 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Sept. 24-25. The camp provides instruction on power skating, hockey skills and goaltendeing.
