Virginia L. Wilson

Virginial Wilson

Virginia L. Wilson

Longtime Happy Valley resident, Mrs. Vir-ginia L. Wilson, 73, died, Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, of natural causes at Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna.

Memorial services are 3 p.m. Sept. 17, 2005, at the Church of the Nazarene, Mile 155 Sterling Highway, Anchor Point. Pastor Stace Andrews will officiate. A reception will follow the services at the Schollenberg’s residence.

Mrs. Wilson was born April 12, 1931, in Farmington, N.M. She had worked as a real estate agent, bookkeeper and rancher. She was a member of the Anchor Point Nazarene Church.

The family wrote, “Virginia moved to Happy Valley, Alaska to ranch with her husband and extended family in 1959. She worked hard those first few years, putting up hay and melting snow for the cattle to drink in the winter. She helped support the family by waitressing at local restaurants. She was always involved in the activities her kids participated in, from rodeos to basketball. In her younger years, Virginia enjoyed snowmachining, four-wheeling and sewing. Later in life, she enjoyed crafts, visiting and was content to walk around the homestead and on the beach. She spent many, many hours seeing that elder people were able to get to the church or to the senior center. She spent her time visiting the elder, sick or shut in folks and making sure they got to the senior center for functions. She will be remembered for her unselfish concern for others.”

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her sisters, Lorene Lewis, Ruth Partington and Marguerite Lambert.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Tessa Wilson of Anchorage; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Butch Schollenberg of Happy Valley; grandchildren, Michael and Allen Wilson, both of Anchorage, Jason and Katie Schollenberg both of Happy Valley; brother, Gary Presley of Happy Valley; sisters, Edna Anderson of Portland, Ore. and Eloise Woodsen of Billings, Mont.; and great-grandchildren, Nikki Wilson, Timmy Nall, Meara and Jacob White all of Anchorage.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Virginia’s memory to the Anchor Point Senior Center, P.O. Box 438, Anchor Point, AK 99556.

Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
