Clarification
In a Sept. 11 article on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, the correlation between FAS and mental retardation was not clear. FAS is a brain injury which can cause mental retardation. However, not all FAS victims can be classified as mentally retarded, and many children and adults with FAS test at normal intelligence.
