I'm writing to thank all of the friends and family that made my mother's surprise 50th birthday party, Chef Teri Robl, a resounding success. I'm so lucky to come from a community full of so much creativity and kindness. Thanks to you all for helping make Homer such a remarkable place.

Also, if you see my mom in town please congratulate her on taking first place in the Fish Alaska contest recently. Contestants submitted recipes from all over the country. Gov. Sean Parnell and his wife Sandy looked on as Teri was announced grand prize winner. We're all so proud of her. Look forward to her thoughts and recipes in her column here in the Homer News. May I one day be able to cook as she can, without a recipe.
